Pretty Bitter @ The Broadway [December 2025]

Pretty Bitter @ The Broadway | December 5th, 2025

On December 5th, 2025, I ended up back at The Broadway in Brooklyn. There was a stacked line-up, this time featuring 5 bands. Talon, Belted Sweater, Perennial, Pretty Bitter, and Ultra Deluxe.

I think I'm slowly becoming friends with Pretty Bitter? When I was speaking to Sam of Cheem the last time I was at The Broadway, he said that members of Pretty Bitter were in Ekko Astral as they were opening the show. I kinda didn't believe him, but then I looked it up after the show, and I was pleasently surprised to see that Miri Tyler was a staple member of both bands. I had spoken to Miri a bit that night back in August, along with Mel, the lead singer, as I was the first person to buy their zine.

A few weeks after the August show, I went to see Ekko Astral open for PUP and Jeff Rosenstock on the "A Cataclysmic Rapture of Friendshipness" tour. I was excited to see Miri up on stage, but when Ekko came out, I recognized Liam, Pretty Bitter's keyboardist, up there as well, jamming out on guitar. I was losing my mind in that pit. Ekko put on such a great show as they opened the night.

After that show, I went to browse the merch tables as I usually do, and Ekko was out there talking to fans after the show. I went up to buy a vinyl record and CD from Ekko to have them sign it, and Miri instantly recognized me, which was awesome. I spoke with Miri and Liam quite a bit that night, and because they were in NY for two nights, I did it all over again the next day.

When this show rolled around, I knew I had to see Pretty Bitter again, especially because I had picked up a vinyl record I wanted them to sign. The zine I had picked up last time had a crossword in it that had me stumped as well, so when I got to the venue, I went to the merch tables and saw Miri there. We spoke for quite a bit, and she helped me solve that crossword. I got her to sign the record, and I made sure to have the rest of the band sign it after their set.

Right after Perennial's set, Liam was getting ready to go set up. I made sure to speak to him, and we talked about the Ekko tour and what's next for Pretty Bitter.

Pretty Bitter put on an amazing show as always, and after the set, I went to grab signatures from the other band members. When I got the merch table to have Mel, the lead singer, sign it, other people were buying records, and I had a sharpie on hand for them to use. I also had my multitool on me for the band to use to cut open the plastic sealing the records, so Mel and Miri were incredibly grateful for me lending them everything. I did grab some stickers from them at the end of the night as I said goodbye, and as it was Bandcamp, I picked up Miri's latest album on Bandcamp.
